Ben Kweller
Ben Kweller was born in San Francisco, CA in 1981. Kweller formed the band "Radish" in 1993 before going solo at age 19 after moving to New York. He self-released 4 solo eps recorded on a laptop before becoming ATO Records's first worldwide signing and releasing a 5-track EP entitled "EP Phone Home". Three studio albums subsequently followed.
His solo work is not as heavy as the grunge-laden "Radish" album, it has a more relaxed atmosphere and the influence of "The Beatles" on Kweller, from his early years of learning instruments and jamming with his dad, can easily be seen in quite a few places across his albums.
Kweller tours with an ever changing line-up and more recently, the five piece line-up has allowed him to just sing on certain songs.

On My Way (2004)
On My Way was recorded at the same studio (Sear Sound) as Sha Sha, but the approach was completely different. "I really wanted to capture the band that had been backing me up for the past year and a half. We recorded everything live, in one room without headphones and hardly any overdubs. I'm very proud of On My Way's spontaneity and honesty. I'm especially proud of the song "On My Way". I feel it's one of my best."

Ben Kweller (2006)
On his Myspace website, Ben described the making of the album as "very exciting, emotional and challenging." He explained that since he played all the instruments on the album it "was a big change for me and it produced something really intimate and special. It's such a different way of working but if you can pull it off it makes a very cool and unique sound." He also described a song on the album, "A bonus for me, and you, is I think I might have written my best song while I was in the studio. It's called 'Thirteen'. It's very personal and almost hard for me to listen to."
