Hundred Reasons

Hundred Reasons

Hundred Reasons are a British rock band from Surrey, originally, the band was signed to Columbia Records in mid-April 2001, after fourteen months of near-constant touring.

The band's debut album, Ideas Above Our Station, reached #6 in the UK album chart and spawned several Top 40 singles. The band went on to tour extensively throughout Europe and Japan. Despite selling 35,000 copies of their second album, Shatterproof Is Not A Challenge, they were dropped by Sony BMG in June 2004.

Hundred Reasons signed to V2 Records in September 2005, and their third album, Kill Your Own - produced by guitarist Larry Hibbitt - was released on March 20, 2006 to critical acclaim.

2006 was a difficult year for them with the announcement that guitarist and vocalist Paul Townsend would be leaving the band following their tour of Japan in September, and singer Colin had throat issues and told he might never sing again. Townsend's departure is said to be "totally amicable", and Ben Doyle of The Lucky Nine has since joined the band as his replacement.

The band's fourth album, Quick the Word, Sharp the Action, was released on October 15, 2007. However, less than a month after the album's release, V2 Records was purchased by Universal - leaving the band without a label. The band describe the situation as: "depressingly similar to when Shatterproof was released in 2004. Lightning has struck, hard. Twice.

Kill Your Own (2006)

Kill Your Own is the third studio album by Hundred Reasons, their first for V2 Records, and their last to feature guitarist and founding member, Paul Townsend.

Guitarist Larry Hibbitt handled production duties on the album, as opposed to the producer of their first two albums, Dave Sardy. Sardy, however, mixed three tracks on the album and the b-side, "Casual Friday". According to bassist Andy Gilmour "Casual Friday" was left off of the album because Hibbitt put an "irritating keyboard" on the song.

Many of the songs on Kill Your Own were debuted during their 2005 Winter tour of the UK's Barfly venues. Those who attended the shows were given a free CD, Singles Club 3, which included "Feed the Fire" alongside other tracks from support bands, Brigade and Orko.
